LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, OF DESIGNING THE FRONT PAGE OF A SCHOOL MAGAZINE, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT?

I believe the magazine has formed into a magnificent result, especially from the preliminary task (please click here to see my prelim task), as this has allowed me to use codes and conventions of a magazine and put them into practice. This has also allowed experimentation with the likes of Photoshop, using tools such as the lasso tool to the filter gallery, which enables me to use them to the best of my ability, and makes the magazine add visual appeal.
Also, this is helped with my photography skill. Looking at how an image can be framed, angled, and lit to create an emotion or story is useful, as it helps you portray a certain story behind the photo. We also looked at the idea of the rule of thirds, which helps with the framing of a photo. It was also very useful to see how text anchors an image, and how a simple word or phrase can determine and portray an image well and efficiently.

Using planning such as flat planning (click here to see the flat plan of my final media product), can help shape your ideas before immediately going onto software, such as Photoshop immediately. This helps as it gives you an idea towards what you want the magazine to be, and therefore allows you to look back at your flat plan when creating the actual publication via software.
