As she arrived at TIS HQ, we couldn't help but wonder. Why is the most awesomest of awesome newcomers coming to have a first, exclusive interview with us?! When she burst through that door an epic feeling just filled the room. We can already tell she's gonna be amazing. In fact, this is gonna be a STNDRD interview.
SO, HOW DO YOU FEEL?
OMG I feel ecstatic right now! I can't believe I'm sitting here, doing an interview. it just feels so surreal right now.
WELL, YOUR NEW SINGLE, "EVERY THING'S GONNA BE" IS RISING IN THE CHARTS AND YOUR ALBUM IS OUT NEXT WEEK!
Yeah I know, It only feels like yesterday when I was wishing that something like this would be happening. "Every thing's gonna be" is a song I wrote when I was what, like 14? I'd had such a roller-coaster week back then, and this song just is about everything and anything, especially how i was feeling. But yeah, my album is out next week (CHANGE).
WE KNOW YOU'VE HAD A BIT OF AN UPSETTING PAST, BUT DO YOU THINK THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON?
Well, in a way I do. Not in a way that anything bad leads to amazing things. I'm just lucky. And grateful for it! But I don't want to feel my whole life depends on these. Life is full of "What if's" but if you don't do it at all then you spend life wondering even more!
ARE YOU A VERY SERIOUS MUSICIAN?
I will have my moments, definitely. But really I'm a kid at heart, and I'll always be one, I can't help it!
WHO DO YOU THINK HAS INSPIRED YOU TO BE THE PERSON YOU ARE TODAY?
Well there’s a huge mix of artists that I feel I’d love to follow... I mean I’d like to think I could be someone new, and not someone who is compared to someone. That would be just so... absolutely standard!
STANDARD! WHICH IS ALSO YOUR NAME, HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT NAME?
Well, yeah my name is actually Sophie [laughs]. I say ‘standard’ all the time, so the name just seemed...right! I think the whole look of the name i.e STNDRD makes it stand out and look awesome, so there you have it. Standard.
DO YOU THINK YOU COULD BE THE NEXT BIG THING?
Everyone who wants to be someone wants to be that. I'm not saying I don't, but i just wanna be a success, rather than there just for fame. I'm not gonna be everyone's cuppa tea, but I can't wait to show the world what I've got!
